Microsoft has updated ActiveX control blocking feature as part of their commitment to deliver a secure browsing experience. The blocking feature has been also updated to work with Internet Explorer 9 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2. You can view a complete list of all possible configurations on the official TechNet site.

Moreover, outdated Silverlight ActiveX control will also be blocked in addition to that of Java. If a web page you are browsing attempts to load an outdated version of the Silverlight ActiveX control, you’ll get an outdated ActiveX control blocking notice. Microsoft has deployed the update to the Microsoft hosted XML list and doesn’t require updates to the client.

A security update for Adobe Flash player has also been released for Internet Explorer 10 and 11 on supported editions of Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
