US Government Adopts Surface Pro 3

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the highly robust tablet based on Windows 8 operating system. However, it failed to get required approval from US Government so that it can be used by employees, officials for projects approved by US Government.

Microsoft seems to have taken this issue seriously. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has been designed in such a way that it has met all the required GSA criteria. Surface Pro 3 tablets are currently available for direct purchase through For Government page on the official Surface website.

Surface Pro 3 is currently available for Government purpose from ACP, CDW, CompuCom, En Pointe, Eplus, Insight, MCPc, NWN, PC Connection, PC Mall, PDS, Pomeroy, Prosys, Shi, Softchoice, Softmart, Softwareone, TIG, UDT and Zones. Microsoft is in process of enabling additional resellers to sell Surface Pro 3 to the public sector as part of specific federal procurement requirements. We expect this to happen in the near future.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3

As of the time of this writing, Surface Pro 3 is available in 28 countries/markets worldwide. Learnxpress feels that more countries will grant approval for Surface Pro 3 in the immediate future based on US Government approval.

Microsoft has not released Surface Pro 3 in India. In fact, the previous versions of Surface were only available with select ecommerce vendors. However, many people were hesitant to purchase since there is no assurance regarding warranty.

Many gadget enthusiasts in India are importing Surface and Surface Pro 3 through friends and relatives in USA. It remains to be seen when Microsoft will officially release Surface Pro 3 in India.

It will not be an easy task for Microsoft to sell Surface Pro 3 in India due to cost factor. In India, people can purchase an Android tablet starting from Rs 4000. Moreover, iBall has relased a 8 inch Windows tablet for Rs 12000. In this case, Learnxpress doesn’t anticipate any possibility of good sales for Surface Pro 3 unless Microsoft cut cost or design a budget friendly mini Surface.

As of now, Surface Pro 3 only cater to rich and business class who require portability at work since ordinary people will not be in a position to invest around INR 70000 for a tablet device.
