Telerik UI for Xamarin recently released an updated package with which 64 bit applications can now be developed to comply with the Apple’s new terms.
Apple recently updated its app submission policy. As per the updated terms, only those apps hich supports 64 bit architecture will be accepted beginning Feb 1, 2015. Moreover, you will be able to submit updated versions of apps only if they support 64 bit from June 1, 2015.
Xamarin has introduced a brand-new assembly that supports 64-bit applications which acts as a replacement to the monotouch assembly for the Xamarin.iOS platform. The official Xamarin documentation provides a detailed coverage of the steps required to update monotouch apps to Xamarin.iOS.
Telerik UI for Xamarin also provides support for 64 bit applications via Xamarin.iOS assembly. Hence, you can submit apps using the suite before or after February 1.
In order to work with Telerik UI for Xamarin with Macintosh, you require the following items
- A Macintosh running OS X Mountain Lion or higher
- Xamarin iOS SDK, Xamarin Android SDK
- Apple’s Xcode IDE and iOS SDK
In order to work with Telerik UI for Xamarin you require Windows 7, Windows 8, Xamarin Studio, Visual Studio 2010 Professional or higher and Xamarin plug-in for Visual Studio. It is not possible to make use of the Xamarin plug-in with Express editions of Visual Studio due to lack of plug-in support.
