Book review: TechKnowLogy

Technology has overtaken life to a large extent. Without digital and tech, we can’t live now. Can you imagine one single day without a smartphone? In this complex technological world, it is essential to know the meaning of the important concepts. If you are a student, then knowing about the various technology terms will help you to secure a job. Moreover, SSC and UPSC including state-level PSCs have been asking questions related to Technology in their examinations. In this review, I will analyze the contents included inside the TechKnowLogy ebook.

Authored by Sudip Saha, the TechKnowLogy book is part of Blogchatter. The book is divided into 26 chapters with several sub-sections. The interesting point to note is that the author has provided Technology specific names for alphabets from A to Z. For instance, the first chapter examines about Artificial Intelligence, while the final chapter covers Zero Day Exploit.

You will learn the concept of Artificial Intelligence in the first chapter. After a brief introduction, the author covers the various types of AI including the areas where the technology is applied. The author should also cover the concept of AR, VR since they are related to AI.

The second chapter examines the concept of blogs. You will also learn the basic difference between a Blog and Website in tabular format. The author can provide an image of a blog here so that beginners will be able to get an idea quickly.

Nowadays, cloud computing is gaining importance and you will learn about the various aspects including the deployment model in the third chapter. The various aspects related to DBMS has been covered in the next chapter. The author covers Encryption and Firewall concepts in the next chapter.

The Internet has changed and GDPR rule has been applied for blogs and websites. If you are unaware about the topic, then you will be able to learn in the next chapter. This is a complex topic and the author has taken great effort to present the topic clearly.

As the world of Technology and Digital evolves, you need to be aware of the term Hacking. The author provides a brief introduction, types of hackers including the steps to prevent hacking.

The remaining chapters delve deep into IoT, Java, OOP, Keyboard Shortcuts, LTE, Microblogging, Networking, Operating System, Programming Languages, QR code, Software, Telecommunication, USB, Virtual Reality, the history surrounding World Wide Web. The author has also explained the real concept of the Y2K bug. You will learn the difference between x86 and x64 terminologies. The book ends with a short note about Zero-Day Exploit with special reference about the steps required to avoid these attacks.

The book will be useful for students, working professionals including senior citizens. Moreover, the book will also be useful for those who are preparing for various competitive examinations.
