Collegedunia provides a detailed list of all colleges, universities and related courses offered under each institution. The site is designed in such a way to help students and parents to find an educational institution suitable to their needs.
After I finished schooling, I gathered college names from friends and neighbours. It was an easy task for me since my brother had already completed college by then. He fortunately got admission in Government Arts College, which is one of the reputed colleges nearby his school.
I was not successful in securing an admission on the college during first allotment. Hence, I was forced to join St.Xaviers College, which is far away from my house. I travelled 2 hours to and fro daily. I came to know about two other college via my father’s friends but seats were limited.
I really was not aware about the offered courses and facilities until I joined the college for my first day of class. The application form never mentioned anything apart from gathering marks secured in the school board exams.
Time has changed tremendously. Today, we have reputed websites such as collegedunia.com, which provides information about each and every college in India.
The home page includes a big search box. Students and parents can enter the required query and collegedunia search engine automatically pulls all the required information from their database.
As soon as you enter the college or university name, a message appears on the top of the search box. It states how many results are available for the provided search term.
For example, look at the below figure. collegedunia returned no results for the search term “kerala university” but returns several similar results for the term “anna university”
However, if you provide “cochin”, the search engine returns the university name correctly.
If you enter “Anna”, you will be able to see several results. You can pick one based on your requirements.
If you select the search button with the term “Anna University”, you will be able to view detailed result, which displays a list of all the offered courses.
Collegedunia home page provides the required details for various courses offered under various streams. By default, you will be able to view details of MBA and BBA courses.
However, if you select “Engineering” you will be able to view the details of M.Tech and B.Tech courses. You can view the results using type, stream and location as shown in the above figure.
If you scroll down the home page of collegedunia, you will be able to view names of featured colleges with their rating. You can view more data by selecting the blue coloured up and down arrow.
The site also provides a list of premium colleges along with their corresponding rating.
From my point of view, the rating displayed on collegedunia site helps students and parents to judge the effectiveness of the institution. The site also provides latest news divided into three tabs – Top, Latest and Most Read.
The navigation bar on the top of collegedunia site provides categorised information about the various streams – Management, Engineering, Medical, Arts, Science, Commerce, Law.
Collegedunia team has recently added a new section called “Exams”, which provides examination related information.
I feel that collegedunia is an excellent site, which provides accurate information about various colleges in India. I would suggest the team to add more colleges, universities and courses so that students will find collegedunia as an effective tool for their education.
