Microsoft has secured an exclusive license for Open AI’s Generative Pretrained Transformer 3 (GPT-3) language model. Open AI released GPT-3 on May 30 and classified as a groundbreaking autoregressive language model that contains two orders of magnitude more parameters. The latest release offers improved features over the existing GPT-2. According to reports, GPT-3 is regarded as one of the most advanced language model and is exclusively trained on Microsoft Azure’s AU supercomputer.

The Redmond-based software giant has established a partnership with OpenAI to license GPT-3. The main purpose of the partnership is to develop and deliver advanced AI solutions for the customers. Moreover, the company is planning to create solutions based on advanced natural language recognition technology.

Commenting on the development, Kevin Scott, Executive Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft disclosed that the scope of commercial and creative potential that can be leveraged via the GPT-3 model is profound with new functionalities and capabilities.

Scott added that the OpenAI’s GPT-3 language model directly aids in human creativity in areas like writing and composition. Moreover, it also describes and summarizes large blocks of long-form data including the ability to convert natural language to another language. The possibilities are endless and are limited by the ideas and scenarios based on your imagination. Microsoft also revealed that OpenAI will continue to provide GPT-3 including the companion models via its own dedicated Microsoft Azure API.
